Author: Czirbik Milán | October 05. 2017.

The Italian Business Day took place in Debrecen on Tuesday. At the event, the Italian Republic's Ambassador to Hungary and László Papp, the Mayor of Debrecen, negotiated about the possible business opportunities for Italian investors in the county seat. Collaboration is mainly possible in the field of economy, culture and education.

Recently, the so-called Italian InfoPont has begun to operate in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hajdú-Bihar County. This is also indicated on the Vörösmarty street headquarters of the organization. Due to this service, companies in the region can receive up-to-date information on the Italian market.

"The aim of the service is to help all entrepreneurs if they need any information concerning trading, searching for a partner, participating in a show or a fair. Obviously, we are very happy to help them for free ", said Éva Skultéti, the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hajdú-Bihar County.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hajdú-Bihar County also organized the Italian Business Day for the first time with the help of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hungary, the Italian Embassy and the City. As part of the event, László Papp, the Mayor of Debrecen and the Italian Republic’s Ambassador to Hungary, discussed the opportunities for Italian investors in Debrecen. Co-operation is mainly possible in the field of, economy, culture and education.

“It is a clear intention of our Italian partners to open up to Eastern Hungary. In this sense, it was a historic consultation since all the organizations belonging to the Italian Embassy, were represented in Debrecen regarding economy, education or culture- said Mayor László Papp.

The goal is twofold, since it is also important for the city that, besides Italian capital inflow, Hungarian companies should also be present on the Italian market. Therefore, the first Italian-Hungarian business forum will be held in Milan on 12 October for interested companies.

The Milan Business Forum will be a significant event for Hungary and Debrecen, as they will be represented as an important investment target for one of the world's most influential economies, Italy. The professional work will be divided into three areas: agriculture, pharmaceutical industry and the environment al industry- said Massimo Rustico, the Italian Republic’s Ambassador to Hungary.

According to cautious estimates, Italy may become Hungary's third largest business partner after Germany and Austria, since the trade turnover between the two countries could reach 10 billion euros in 2017.
